Dear Mr. Ledwell, Whale Release and Strandings Group:

On behalf of the staff and students of St. Anne's School I would like to thank your organization for the presentation given by Julie Huntington in December 2002.

Ms. Huntington gave presentations to all of our students ranging from Kindergarten to Level 3 (Grade 12). Comments from those teachers and students who attended were very positive. Ms. Huntington was very flexible in her ability to change the presentation so that it was appropriate to the age group which attended.

The information which she provided on the various aspects of whale research was very interesting. Students were very attentive to what was being presented.

I found the presentation to be of the highest quality. Ms Huntington was very professional in her delivery of the material. I have enclosed a newspaper article concerning her visit from The Coaster, a local newspaper on the South Coast of Newfoundland (See article below).

In today's technological world presentations such as this are needed to help us realize the negative effects which our actions may have on other species. I hope that you continue with your school visits and wish you luck in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
William Bennett, Senior High Science teacher

St. Anne's students learn about whales
By Mary Benoit, The Coaster News

Julie Huntington visited St. Anne's School in Conne River and the students learned about whales.

Ms. Huntington, program coordinator for the Whale Release and Strandings Program of Newfoundland and Labrador, visited the shool on Dec. 5 and gave a presentation on various types of whale research. Topics included species at risk, environmental health, whale measurements, habitat and ecology of whales around the province.

The very informative presentation was given to all students from primary to senior high. One of the highlights was a 30-foot silhouette of a whale that was rolled out in the gym to indicate the actual size.
