To Marine Mammal Stewardship Program:
On behalf of the K to Eight teachers of Riverwood Academy, Gander Bay and Area, I would like to express our appreciation for the excellent presentation given at our school on March 6, 2002.
Ms. Huntington demonstrated not only an immense knowledge regarding marine mammal entrapment issues, she conducted the sessions with a unique ability to engage all children. A feat not easily accomplished!
From 6th-grade teacher Wayne Gillingham
"I felt Ms. Huntington did an excellent presentation. The students were very attentive and intrigued by the factual information presented. My students learned a great deal about how whales feed, the importance of preserving their habitat and the dangers of allowing certain species to become extinct.
Even after the next day, my students were still talking about whales and asking questions! It is really important that children in our school be exposed to more of these kinds of presentations, since theses mammals do live in our backyard."
From Kindergarten teacher Julie White:
"Excellent presentation! Ms. Huntington was able to 'get down' to the level of the primary children, using appropriate language and really keeping the children involved and interested."
These sentiments were expressed by all the teachers attending the presentation. Hats off to the staff of the Marine Mammal Entrapment Program. It is indeed a pleasure to have our students take part in presentations of this caliber.
Sincerely, Mrs. Lynn Penney
