Dear Wayne Ledwell, Whale Release and Strandings Group:

Your visit to our school has proven to be a most meaningful educational experience. Living around the ocean as we do, many children take its benefits for granted. It's not until we realize that someone of your expertise considers it important enough to come to us and impress upon us the necessity of protecting the habitat of those species that have become such familiar sights are we able realize our responsibility in that protection.

At such an impressionable, young age my students aren't blessed with a lot of attitude and speak totally from the heart. Since your visit several parents have related several incidents where their children have communicated to their "fisherparents" the importance of protecting species at risk.

These children were outraged to know that these huge mammals are still hunted in many countries resulting in endangerment. Many of my students were so impacted by your message of protecting species at risk that they have already committed to protecting whales like both yourself and John Lien when they grow up. What a testament to your work!

Sincerely,
Sandra Warren, grade three teacher
